Going to the pet store

We went to the pet store last weekend. It was Bonnie's birthday, but she really didn't want to go. She hates the car, it makes her nervous and sometimes she gets car sick.

I was so excited, I love to ride in the car, it doesn't matter where we go.

I got a new soft baby! Bonnie got a Frisbee and a kong to distract her from the rocks she finds. Bonnie doesn't care about that kong, but I sure love my new baby.

Going to the Vet

What Jack Russell wants to sit still and wait? Not me! Mom kept talking, telling me we would be there in a minute. blah blah blah.

I have never liked riding in a car.

Then she laughed about my tail of all things!

Okay, I've seen the room, let's go!

Fine, I'll wait, but I'm not coming here again.

Mom told the Vet that I stink! She was concerned that I had yeast because I'm in and out of the pool so much. He said I have an allergy. I don't think Mom believes it because I've never had a stinky allergy before.

Sam - order in the house!

Blue Heeler, also known as a Cattle Dog, 9 yrs. old, DOB 12/3/2000, adopted at 4 yrs old in Missouri. Obedient, big baby, will work for food, no one barks or plays that he doesn't try and round them up like a herding dog would. His soul purpose in life is keep structure in the pack - and belly rubs. Has a deep loud bark that would scare most intruders off, including the neighborhood children! Also known as my camera hound because if he sees the camera he immediately starts smiling. Sam has a feminine side. He enjoys baths, blow drying, brushing, and to smell good. I found this out the first time I was blow drying my hair with the bathroom door open. He was holding his head high, smiling, and trying to catch some air coming of the dryer. If I put lotion on my legs he rubs against them and if I spray perfume he walks in circles near me hoping some will fall on him. Sam is a good boy and could live in any type of home, but we're happy he found ours!

sm Eskimo Spitz or Eskie, DOB 7/27/2003, 6 years old. It was only after I went to see Chloe as a puppy that I realized I was at the wrong house! I was going to look at a Shih Tzu puppy because the kids wanted something cute and fluffy. She was the last left of the litter and I couldn't resist the little ball of fur. She's high strung and the most vocal dog I've ever owned. She howls at the trains or sirens in the distance and has gotten so good at it that she's managed to get two others to chime in. She tells you she wants a treat, and another treat, and another! She use to bolt out the door, but she's so much better now as she's getting older. She's has a collapsed trachea and had two HGE episodes - Hemorrhagic gastroenteritis which can be fatal. She snores, snorts like a pig sniffing the ground, has lost her upper front teeth from playing tug of war with the other dogs, and I think she's already losing her hearing. Sweet and affectionate although too boisterous at inappropriate times. Defenitely the most challenging dog I ever owned, but I can't help but love her.

AKA - Bon Bon, Jack Russell Terrier, DOB 10/18/2006, 3 years old. Pulled from a rabbit hutch in Missouri at 4 mos. What a miserable life she might have had. Nothing survives our yard, not a frog, worm, or bug. She's a Frisbee dog so watch out little birdie because she'll catch you too! She was obsessed with a ball she stole from the cats so I had to take it. Yeah, we have three cats too. While it was cute hearing her jingle as she walked through the house with it in her mouth, she would take a dogs cheek off for looking at her -because she knew that they wanted that ball! Like other JRTs she goes nuts over a flash light, but I do have to use it occassionally to get a frog from her at night. No amount of foaming at the mouth or vomitting will stop her frog hunting! The older she gets the worse the digging gets as her prey instincts are more intense. More recently she has become quite the obsessive rock collector. Quiet, calm (serious!), peace loving, not too affectionate, and she owns my heart - the absolute best in my pack. I wouldn't take a million dollars for this dog, the heartache isn't worth it.

Broken coat Jack Russell, appox. 2 yrs, pulled from the pound to foster in Feb. 2009, but 24 hrs with this baby and I knew he was a gift sent from above. I wonder how an affectionate little dog like Toby could wind up a stray and later urgent at the pound. I'm so glad we found each other because he is my "tiny boy" that walks all over my heart. If you can't find Toby, call him out from under the couch. He just discovered he fits under there. He doesn't like his feet wet so I sometimes have to walk him out in the yard. He's had a fractured hip at some point in his short life and is afraid of cars when you walk with him. Naturally we think he may have been hit by a car. He also has little scars in several places throughout his body. He carries one foot up like it's too short - it dangles when he stands still. It doesn't cause him any pain, we know this because he can run with the rest of the gang and like a JRT, he is fast! I'm not sure if it's his hip or just his size, but I've seen him pee on his front leg many times when he lifts his leg outside. Most times he's right by my feet or he'll find someone to hold him if I'm busy. Bonnie is his favorite playmate, he barks at her when she's had enough, but it's a play bark so it's hard to get upset about that. I know he found the right home because he can't be alone or he'll bark his head off. Trust me, you'll know if he's locked in a room. He'll bark at the door to let me know that another dogs wants in. We are delighted to have Toby in our lives. He's affectionate, not a kisser, but loves to be held close to your heart. As soon as you pick him up he plops his head over on your chest. He has the most captivating eyes I've ever seen on a dog.

Mixed breed, DNA markers for Golden Retriever and English Coonhound. approx. 3 yrs, rescued from the streets in March 2009 after feeding her in a grocery store parking lot EVERY night for 6 mos. She use to cross a four lane highway every night to eat, then she ran back across the highway and into some woods right afterwards. We had to set a trap because she was so fearful, she still is, but she has made phenomenal progress. She would like nothing better than for me to live alone as a hermit because I am the only one she trusts, although it took several weeks for her to learn to trust me. Darlin has her own blog because her story touched so many hearts on Petfinder. I have been encouraged to write a book about her rescue and rehabilitation and I probably will. Because of her blog, it seemed fitting to give all my dogs a place on the web. Her link is below.
